Happy New Yacht Rock Episode!

December 29, 2007

If you’ve never heard of the video series Yacht Rock, I highly suggest you
immediately report to YouTube and watch all 10 episodes (about 5 min.
each) in a row. Scenic Propaganda (refreshingly non-Clear Channel shows at Europa in BK) hosted the EXCLUSIVE premiere of the 11th episode of Yacht Rock at the Knitting Factory last week. Now reaching cult status, the mega-successful series, originally featured on LA’s Channel 101, brought not only a host of characters from Hall and Oates to The Eagles and Steely Dan, but also series creators JD Ryznar (Michael McDonald), Hunter Stair (Kenny Loggins) and Lane Farnham (Jim Messina) the stage at the Knit. Those of you who weren’t at the party will have to wait another month to see it on the internet. But, trust me, it’s worth the wait. Until then, maybe this will hold you over.

JD and Hunter backstage right after showing the 11th episode.

Oates with Yacht Rock narrator Hollywood Steve, who talked with me a bit about reaching cult celebrity status.

Super fans in captains hats! I happen to know that one of these guys has a kick-ass Yacht Rock tattoo.

Super fans- is that a Doobie Brother?

“Hi, I’m Hollywood Steve! You’ve caught me hanging out with pals in New York.”

The Paul Green School of Rock showed up with a double set of grade school rock students paying tribute to the smooth sounds. Here they are doing Toto’s “Rosanna.” (refer to episode 4)

xx,

Jackie
