It’s only surprising because they came all the way from sunny southern California to play the frosty Lower East Side. Mercury Lounge (1/3/08) saw a pretty large turnout for the hard rocking trio Year Long Disaster (Volcom Records). Like riffs? Daniel’s licks come naturally. Maybe even genetically. (his dad being the lead axeman in The Kinks and all.) The rhythm section holds it down too. An unlikely combination with an incredible back story, they’ve come from stoner-rock and Third-Eye Blind. Together they are more 70′s classic rock/heavy metal than anything else…and it suits them well. Very well. My European friends should keep an eye out, they’ll be hitting the EU with TURBONEGRO and Valient Thorr soon.
