Black Lips Spread in the October 2009 issue of SPIN

Here is Jared from Black Lips and an airborne concert go-er. I’m so happy with the way it turned out! This one is in the soundcheck section of the October Issue of SPIN. It was shot on July 26th at the Jelly Pool Party, one of the only ones I attended this summer. There are a few more photos on my Flickr page taken during the dramatic thunderstom that ultimately rained out …Trail of Dead.
Lou Reed’s Metal Machine Trio @ The Blender Theater

One thing I’d never thought I’d see was Lou Reed live playing nothing but a pedal board. But there I was in front at the Blender Theater, catching his new Metal Machine Trio, a nod to his notoriously noisy early-70s double LP Metal Machine Music. In the spirit of that controversial work, Lou and his cohorts used electronics and sax to create building-shaking walls of sound. “Sweet Jane” it was most definitely not. Spin accurately caught the mood of the whole evening with their “It Happened Last Night” article, and you can find more photos there as well.

I spent New Year’s Eve at Madison Square Garden with Kentucky’s Neo-Classic-Psych-Rock gods My Morning Jacket (well, the first 3 songs at least).
