i’m not taking sides on this one

well that was fun. the booze cruise on August 29th had stalkers and the giraffes afloat the half-moon. rocks-off puts these shows on regularly, but this was the first one where i actually felt that we might have gone down with the ship! CRAZY! i won’t go into detail, but this one might be bigger than the oasis/blur rivalry of the 90′s. here’s a photo of everyone who played that night, one big happy family?

Bang Camaro w/ The Giraffes and Demander, Bowery Ballroom

Thursday night at Bowery Ballroom, Bang Camaro rolled in with the entourage of 19+ “bros” and a slew of fans. Opening the night were locals Demander with our favorite, The Giraffes. I ran into Mike Frankel, of the LWMB there as well as a few friends and superfans. Inquiring minds want to know, how do those Bang Camaro dudes split up the groupies? Just kidding, I can attest that they are all perfect gentlemen. I did some photos of them last fall for Playgirl Magazine’s music feature, and the after party was a pretty good ratio, if you know what I mean! There was, however, some explicit behavior out on the street after Thursday night’s show.

The Giraffes at SXSW

How much do I love The Giraffes? A LOT! This was the case even with the previous lineup, and now that my lover/partner/fellow LimeWire contributor is the new bass player, this band has reached supergroup status. They are currently on a national tour promoting their new album, which slays. These men are rude, lewd, filthy devil worshiping rock terrorists who are not to be left alone with your girlfriend, or anywhere near an open bar. However, their shows are legendary for promoting alcohol consumption and good times, so you should definitely go see them play in a town near you. Here they are in Austin.

A Place to Bury Strangers, A Place to Eat Noodles.

Friday, December 21st, 2007, on the Bowery.

It’s 2:08AM (saturday morning). If anyone knows anything about noodling, it’s The Giraffes. I sat down with Aaron, Damien and Drew at Great N.Y. Noodletown after one helluva show at The Bowery Ballroom. I had just seen Blacklist, The Giraffes, The Cloud Room, and renowned art-noise-rockers A Place to Bury Strangers. Each band was spectacular in their own way, and it was an extraordinarily fun night. Let’s start at the end and work our way backwards…

But wait, there’s more………
